Let us introduce you to the gbl | faith assessment index...

At go.build.love. (gbl), we believe that spiritual growth is a dynamic journey, unique to each individual. To help us better understand and cultivate connections between those we serve and with Jesus, we’ve developed the gbl Faith Assessment Index with Biblical Spiritual Formation Indicators.

Think of this not as a rigid judgment, but as a compassionate snapshot of the current spiritual engagement of individuals within an entire community. Using a simple 1-5 scale, the Index illuminates key areas of biblical spiritual formation, offering insights into community member’s relationship with Scripture, prayer life, understanding of core Christian principles, the fruit of the Spirit in their life, and involvement within the Christian community.

Whether in the Seed Stage, just beginning to explore your faith, or flourishing in the Fruit-Bearing Stage, marked by a deep love for God and others, the gbl Faith Assessment Index provides our teams valuable insights into where they are spiritually and how we might be able to help them grow.  It’s a tool to celebrate growth, identify areas for deeper engagement, and ultimately, to empower entire communities on the path toward a more vibrant and transformative relationship with Jesus.

Part of our mission is to not just make Jesus known but to help entire communities discover where they are on their faith journey and embrace the beautiful potential for growth and the gbl Faith Assessment Index we can do just that. It’s not about reaching a destination, but about the ongoing, life-enriching process of becoming more like Him.

How the gbl | faith assessment index is used:

Determining whether an individual, let alone an entire community is following Jesus is a complex task, as faith is deeply personal and can manifest in diverse ways. However, we can ask questions that explore the community’s values, practices, and impact, drawing from biblical principles. It’s crucial to approach this with humility and respect, recognizing that only God knows the true state of a person’s heart.

To ensure accurate application of the gbl | Faith Assessment Index in our Mission Mapping system (click here to see the Mission Map Dashboard), a thorough preliminary understanding is vital before assigning a score to any individual or community. Our teams use a specific set of questions as a framework for our discussions to arrive at the most precise evaluation. The insights gained from this information will help us better determine how to ensure community-wide impact and to truly see life change flood the streets in every community we serve.
